BEST WAY TO USE BODY BUTTERS

Let's get straight into it :) The best way to get the best out of body butters is to remember two key things: application technique and frequency!

APPLICATION TECHNIQUE

Getting the best out of Body butters is not only about what body butter you use, it is also about how you apply it. Let me break it down for you in these easy to follow steps:

  1. Cleanse / Exfoliate: Start by cleansing your skin or exfoliating to get rid of dead skin cells. This will help the body butter to penetrate the skin better and to absorb the nourishing nutrients from the product.
  2. Apply on Damp Skin: For the best absorption, do not fully dry your skin after cleansing. Leave it slightly damp. Then apply the product to your damp skin. Yes, this might sound odd if you have not been doing this but trust me, this technique is very effective at locking in the natural hydration from the water. And if you already use this technique, then you know ;)
  3. Right Amount: Thick body butters like Afoyo's Softening Body butters are much richer and luxurious than standard lotions/creams. So I promise you that, a little goes a long way. If you are still not sure then start off with a small amount and increase it if needed.
  4. Massage time: Lovingly massage the product into your skin. Use this opportunity as a time to love on your beautiful body! This will stimulate blood circulation, leading to healthier and more radiant skin!

FREQUENCY

Body butter can be used at any time and it is especially effective when applied before bedtime. This is because while we sleep our body rejuvenates and heals itself. Therefore this will allow the nutrients in the body butter to penetrate deeper into the skin and heal any issues.

However if you have dry skin then I recommend using it in the morning. Just give it a few moments to make sure it fully absorbs into your skin before dressing. Thankfully our Softening butters are quick absorbent so you will not need to wait long! 

I must add that using the body butters daily is recommended, especially during the colder months (September to May in the UK).  

Favourite thing: One of my favourite things about Afoyo's Softening Body butters is how it reduces the appearance of scars, stretch marks and skin pigmentation!
